ART
The Pritzker Prize, the world’s top architecture honor, has been awarded to Kenzo Tange of Japan for work that has “enhanced the human spirit.” The $100,000 award, the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in the field of architecture, was presented to Tange last week during ceremonies at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Tange, 73, accepted the award from Chicago business tycoon Jay Pritzker and responded with a nearly inaudible, “Thank you.” Tange’s work in the United States includes the Arts Complex in Minneapolis, Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco and Inner Harbor Project in Baltimore.
