A man’s body was found near the end of the jetty at Bolsa Chica State Beach on Saturday evening, officials said.
A fisherman reported the body was wedged between rocks at the inland outlet channel about 5 p.m., said Kevin Pearsall, public safety superintendent for California State Parks Orange County.
He said the man, who was clothed, had no ID and carried a backpack, might have drowned. There were no obvious signs of foul play or trauma.
Pearsall said it was difficult to estimate the man’s age because of bloating from the water but authorities estimate he was between 28 and 38 years old.
“There’s a possibility that he was a transient but we don’t know for sure,” he said.
