Music: Weeknd to play Orpheum on Saturday
Everything about the Weeknd suggests insularity and silver-tongued viciousness. The act’s three free albums are an unfeeling hellscape of meaningless, vampiric sex and drug use set to productions as shimmery and surface as the glass tables that pop up in Abel Tesfaye’s lyrics. This stuff is what Rip from “Less Than Zero” has as Muzak in his apartment. The Orpheum, 842 S. Broadway, L.A. Sat., 9 p.m. $49.50. goldenvoice.com.
