Oscars 2013: Watch live video commentary from the L.A. Times
For the 85th Academy Awards, The Times presents a new facet of our comprehensive Oscars coverage: live video commentary from film critic Kenneth Turan and staff writer Robin Abcarian while the show unfolds.
Immediately before the broadcast and during the commercial breaks, the two will shed light and share their opinions on what’s happened and what’s yet to come, live from our newsroom in downtown L.A.
In Turan, viewers have a critic who’s not completely sold on the idea of best picture favorite “Argo” winning the top prize. A fine film, he says, but not one that would’ve stood out as a best picture winner in Hollywood’s heyday. He’ll be offering opinions informed by years in the screening room and behind the scenes.

Robin Abcarian, a veteran of the 2012 presidential campaign trail and an outstanding storyteller, will share her observations as films and their makers travel the path from nominee to winner.
