Disney archives on display at Reagan Library
Presidential busts created for the “Hall of Presidents” in Walt Disney World will be on display in a new venue -- at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum.
More than 500 items of Disney memorabilia, including the first ticket issued at Disneyland, Walt Disney’s name tag [“Cast Member No. 1”] and costumes from such live-action films as “Mary Poppins,” “101 Dalmatians” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” will be exhibited at the Simi Valley museum.
The display, which opens July 6, includes correspondence between the Walt Disney Co.’s namesake founder and Reagan, as well as a handwritten draft of a letter the late president sent to the U.S. Postmaster General urging the creation of a special Walt Disney stamp.
The Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives may be viewed during the museum’s regular visiting hours through next April.
