Worker at N.Y. Art Museum Falls 6 Stories to His Death
NEW YORK — A contractor caulking glass ceiling tiles at the Metropolitan Museum of Art crashed through a panel Friday and plummeted six stories to his death, landing feet from the entrance to the Temple of Dendur.
Museum officials identified the worker as Martin Keeler, 26.
Keeler was caulking an internal glass ceiling beneath the museum’s roof and 60 feet above the temple floor Friday morning when a 6-by-6-foot panel in the ceiling gave way.
It was not clear whether Keeler was standing on the panel when it collapsed, officials said.
The death was being investigated as an accident, police said.
The Temple of Dendur was closed to the public after the accident.
