‘Nemo’s’ splash gets bigger
The fish tale “Finding Nemo” passed $200 million at the domestic box office Wednesday, the Disney/Pixar movie’s 20th day in release. Disney said the film’s total was $203.3 million at the close of business Wednesday night.
The fifth collaboration of the two companies became the fourth-highest-grossing computer-animated film, just behind the partners’ “Monsters, Inc.” ($255.9 million) and “Toy Story 2” ($245.9 million) and DreamWorks’ “Shrek,” which has the highest gross for a fully computer-animated film with $267.7 million, according to the Web site www.boxofficemojo.com and box office tracker Nielsen EDI.
“Finding Nemo” also is the third-highest-grossing film of 2003 after “The Matrix Reloaded” and “X2: X-Men United,” with $259.7 million and $208 million, respectively, as of Wednesday night, although “Nemo” is expected to pass “X2” by Saturday morning.
