It will be Take 2 tonight for the $137,800 Charger Bar Handicap.
The first Grade I race of 2003 was supposed to be run a week ago, but thick fog blanketed the track, causing the final three races of the card to be postponed.
So, a field of 10 quality older mares will try again in the 400-yard Charger Bar, the ninth of 10 races on the card.
Corona Kool, who won the race two years ago, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite, breaking from the outside post. Owned by Dan Lucas and trained by Connie Hall, the 6-year-old First Down Dash mare has won 14 of 26 and earned $1.287 million.
Trainer Paul Jones, who won four races Thursday night, will send out 3-1 second choice First Regards and 4-1 fourth choice Inthetwinkleofaneye. Both won four races last year and Inthetwinkleofaneye was worse than second only once in eight starts.
Completing the field are the E G Desert High Farms-owned entry of Pure Rhythm and Coupers First Dash, Royal Dip, Running Bac, Sammies White Chick, Ddf De Great Saiga and Dinastia Toll.
The picks: 1. Kens Rawhide. 2. Sulton’s Glass. 3. Kg Doll. 4. Siward. 5. Chiriaco. 6. Bank On Slew. 7. Youthlike. 8. Think Mile. 9. Dinastia Toll. 10. Fred Too.
Four! Use Youthlike and Tiene Mucho Blanco in the seventh, Tam’s Nitemare, Think Mile and Local Call in the eighth, single Dinastia Toll in the ninth and Ashlander, Gimme Glory, Be A Winner Jj and Fred Too in the 10th.
Shots in the dark: Class-dropping Crazy For Jazz in the first and Banshee Rose, in her first race against winners, in the third.
