BBC Symphony Cancels O.C. Stop
The BBC Symphony, scheduled to play Orange County on March 7 and 9, 2003, has canceled its U.S. tour. Subscribers to these concerts, sponsored by the Philharmonic Society, will be contacted regarding their ticket options.
The Philharmonic Society has also added two concerts for the 2002-2003 season. Both will be at the Irvine Barclay Theatre.
Pianist Zoltan Koscis will play Liszt’s Concerto No. 1 with the Hungarian National Philharmonic on Jan. 24. The program, led by Zsolt Hamar, will also include Kodaly’s “Hary Janos” Suite and Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra.
The period-instrument ensemble Il Giardino Armonico will return to play a program of Italian baroque works May 2, 2003. The ensemble, founded in Milan in 1985, made its local debut with mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli in a Vivaldi program in February 2001.
Tickets for both concerts can be purchased for $72 to $81. Single tickets go on sale April 16. Information: (949) 553-2422.
