Madame Tussaud Goes Broadway: It Figures

Madame Tussaud’s uncanny replicas of celebrities are waxing glamorous at a new venue: New York’s Times Square.

The $50-million, 85,000-square-foot branch of the London attraction displays nearly 200 life-size figures on five floors at 234 W. 42nd St. It’s the fourth satellite of the London original; the others are in Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Amsterdam.

New York’s movers and shakers, such as Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, get the spotlight. There’s a “virtual carriage ride” through New York history. Hollywood is also well represented, with Frank Sinatra, Brad Pitt, Barbra Streisand and many more. The next president will be there too; George W. Bush and Al Gore figures are in the works.
