Re “Heartache on Aisle 3: Sweatshop for Janitors,” July 2: Is this one of the jobs American citizens are waiting in line for? Is this the type of job undocumented workers “steal” from citizens?
Since the names of the companies that hire these people were published in The Times, those citizens anxiously waiting for this type of work should have no problem applying. I’ll be looking for the follow-up story, “American Citizens Work on Jobs Usually Reserved for Undocumented Workers.”

* Did I get this right? Veteran illegal immigrant janitors are upset because a new batch of cheaper illegal immigrants is taking their jobs. Didn’t the “veteran” get his job because he undercut someone else’s job before him?
To improve this situation, shouldn’t these businesses that hire illegals or undocumented workers be heavily fined until they comply with U.S. law?
