Riverside’s Lucero Wins Main Event

Steve Lucero of Riverside won the scratch main event Saturday night in speedway motorcycle racing at the Orange County Fairgrounds.

Lucero finished ahead of Mike Faria (Apple Valley), Bobby Schwartz (Costa Mesa), Shawn McConnell (Brea) and John Aden (Apple Valley).

Brian Burch of Costa Mesa won the support class main and Richard Taling of Huntington Beach finished second to Duane Carmont (Rowland) in the sidecar main event.

Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano won the handicap main event. Paul Colston of Corona and McConnell finished second and third in that race.
