Alice S. Acheson; Widow of Ex-Secretary of State
Alice Stanley Acheson, 100, accomplished artist and the widow of former Secretary of State Dean Acheson. Her husband, who served during President Harry S. Truman’s tenure, died in 1971. The daughter and granddaughter of artists, the centenarian exhibited her oils and watercolors at galleries and museums in Washington and other cities over several decades. Her work included landscapes of the nations she visited with her husband. On Friday in Washington of a heart ailment.
