Dowd in Charge of Physical Production at Caravan Pictures
Ned Dowd has joined producer Joe Roth’s Caravan Pictures as supervisor in charge of all aspects of physical production for motion pictures. Dowd, a longtime assitant director, most recently co-produced the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures/Caravan Pictures “The Three Musketeers.”
Warner/Chappel Music Inc. has promoted Rachelle Fields to senior vice president of the creative division. Fields, who joined the music publisher in 1983, is credited with developing the Warner/Chappel urban creative division and bringing in such acts as Jeffrey Osborne and Ice Cube.
David Friend, formerly assistant news director at WABC-TV in New York, joins the nascent staff of “Entertainment News Television” as a senior producer. “ENT” will be launched as a daily syndicated newsmagazine by Warner Bros. Domestic TV in the fall of 1994.
Helen Nesbit has been tapped to become vice president of customer relations for Viacom Enterprises. In the newly created position, Nesbit, who most recently was vice president of contract administration and credit collection, will oversee domestic and international sales service and technical operation for New York-based Viacom.
Tracy Masington is the new director of national publicity at Universal Pictures. She will be responsible for planning national publicity campaigns in support of Universal’s movies.
Sherman Oaks-based SSA Public Relations has hired Eva Marie Lopez as the firm’s director of media and station relations. She has been a program and promotion director at several local TV stations. In addition, the company has promoted Theresa Ward and John Russel to senior vice presidents and Lauren Lewis to the position of vice president of talent.
Personal manager Bart Gallagher becomes a vice president at Burbank-based Silverhardt Entertainment. He will now also be on the lookout to acquire projects for the company’s production arm.
Seventeen-year APA veteran Burton Taylor, who has represented such artists as Bernadette Peters and Barry Manilow, confirmed he is leaving the agency “to pursue personal management opportunities and entertainment projects he has been presented.”
