PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Shell Sees Improvement

As Raider Coach Art Shell headed off the field after Wednesday’s second practice, he found himself surrounded by reporters.
“I’ll answer a few questions,” he said in the Texas heat, “and then I’m going to take a shower.”
“It was hot, but we got a lot of work done,” Shell said, summarizing the Raiders’ work against the Dallas Cowboys in six practices over three days at St. Edward’s University in Austin. “We worked against their quickness, and they worked against our bulk. So it was good for both sides.
“Right now, this is a much better team than we had last year. You can see it in the way they play. You can see it in their eyes.”

Today is the Raiders’ final full day in Austin. After practice Friday morning, they will fly to Canton, Ohio, to play the Green Bay Packers in the Hall of Fame game Saturday.
