Boxed In at the Bowl

General Manager Anne Parsons of the Hollywood Bowl may try to “turn every stone and let something crawl out from under it” when it comes to programming, but box seats at the Bowl are never turned. The seats are reserved into the millennium by the elite of Los Angeles (“How to Win at Bowl Games,” by Robin Rauzi, July 4).

Again I ask the eternal question: Why in a public venue are reserved box seats held by a select few from season to season, from decade to decade? How about selling season box-seat tickets each season on an open or lottery basis if necessary?

Perhaps our new mayor and “new” City Council can show favoritism to the people by adopting an open policy in the selling of season tickets to a public venue like Hollywood Bowl.
