Frito-Lay to Sponsor Super Bowl Fest: Frito-Lay has concocted yet another Super Bowl end run. One year ago, the makers of Doritos tried to attract Super Bowl TV viewers bored with the game’s halftime show by sponsoring a live, halftime TV show on Fox TV that featured the cast of “In Living Color.” Now, Frito-Lay has signed a deal with NBC to be the exclusive sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show on Jan. 31, 1993, which will feature a previously announced live concert by pop singer Michael Jackson. Jackson has been a three-time spokesman for Pepsi-Cola, whose parent company, PepsiCo, also owns Frito-Lay.
