Newhall Land & Farming Plans Project in Arizona

Newhall Land & Farming Co. said it has agreed to buy about 3,000 acres in Scottsdale, Ariz., where it plans to build a golf course community. The vpurchase price was not disclosed.
Newhall, a real estate development and agricultural concern based in Valencia, said the site will be bought from the Herberger family of Scottsdale, which is near Phoenix.
The site’s development will include 3,500 to 4,000 houses, a golf course, shopping centers and possibly a resort hotel, Newhall said.
