Bowers Plans Events for Its Reopening
SANTA ANA — The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art has planned several public events heralding the institution’s official reopening on Oct. 15.
On May 17, photo journalist Angela Fischer, author of “Africa Adorned,” will speak on “Jewelry: The Art of Adorning,” at a high tea, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.
The museum’s annual La Fiesta gala on June 27--which has the 1992 theme “Rediscover the Worlds of the Bowers”--will be the first major social event held in the new galleria area of the museum. The $175 ticket price includes a $125 donation to the museum.
The opening of the Bowers’ new restaurant will be feted with a $500-per-person dinner on Aug. 16, and on Sept. 27, another fund-raising party will commemorate the opening and naming of the Native American Hall. For more information on any of these events, call Judy Mers at the museum: (714) 567-3639.
