General Cinema Acquisition Clinched: General Cinema Corp. probably will announce today that it has clinched its nearly yearlong effort to acquire publisher Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, sources said. After General Cinema repeatedly pushed back deadlines this week, sources said holdouts among Harcourt bondholders agreed to tender their bonds, allowing the deal to go through. The $1.5-billion acquisition was contingent on holders of 90% of Harcourt’s bonds tendering them to General Cinema.
