MEDINAH, Ill. — A bee in a beer bottle fatally stung a golfer as he was preparing to tee off at the Medinah Country Club, authorities said.
Elmer Kurzka, 60, apparently suffered an allergic reaction to the sting, but officials said toxicology tests to determine the exact cause of death were not expected for several weeks.
Kurzka, of Arlington Heights northwest of Chicago, was stung Saturday when he took a drink from the bottle and the bee entered his mouth, said Du Page County Coroner Richard Ballinger.
