THE SIDELINES : Bornstein Named ESPN Chief
ESPN, without a president and chief executive officer since Roger Werner unexpectedly resigned on Aug. 29, will promote Steve Bornstein to the cable network’s top spot, United Press International reported.
Television sources said Bornstein, ESPN’s executive vice president for programming and production, will take over the largest basic cable network. It has more than 56 million subscribers.
Bornstein, 38, was overseeing the network’s program acquisitions and scheduling, programming, “SportsCenter” news and highlight shows, engineering and operations departments.
