‘New Kid’ Leaves Hospital, to Miss a Few Concerts
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — New Kid in the intensive-care unit checked out of a hospital today and went home to his parents in Boston.
Donnie Wahlberg, 20, one of the New Kids on the Block, will miss some of the singing group’s shows while he continues to recover from injuries suffered when he fell through a stage trap door during a performance Sunday night in Saratoga Springs.
“He’s not going to Detroit,” said spokeswoman Patty Webster. “He’s going to Boston to stay at his parents’ house and may be back on the tour at the end of the week or the beginning of next week.”
Wahlberg’s injuries--a cut on his chin that needed six stitches and bruises on his arms and chest--weren’t all that serious, but he was put in the intensive-care unit so he could have some privacy from the horde of fans who besieged the hospital with flowers, cards and calls.
