Margaret Winkler Mintz; Distributor of Animated Films
Margaret Winkler Mintz, 95, a film pioneer who founded M.J. Winkler & Co., the major distributor of short subjects in the 1920s. She first worked as secretary to motion picture magnate Harry Warner, and at age 26 founded her own company, which specialized in animated short subjects. The company produced and distributed such series as “Felix the Cat.” On Thursday in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
