Grants For L.A. Endowment Pile Up: The Cultural Affairs Department said it expects to receive more than 1,000 applications for its 1990-91 cultural grants administered through the multimillion dollar Los Angeles Endowment for the Arts. About 730 applications had been received from Los Angeles artists by Wednesday’s 5 p.m. deadline, and officials said they expected another 300-500 to arrive by the mail. Officials said “slightly under $4 million” in grants will be awarded to artists on July 1.
