Reaching Out: A concert and reception today will kick off activities for the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s new Community Advisory Committee. Chaired by James M. Rosser, president of Cal State Los Angeles and a Philharmonic board member, the committee includes representatives from the academic, television, film, and business communities, several of them also members of the Philharmonic board. The committee’s initial projects are a series of multilingual public service spots to be produced by KHJ-TV and a special Philharmonic concert in conjunction with the Young Black Scholars, the Committee of 100 Black Men and the Academic Decathlon.
