A collection of eight paintings by Gauguin, Cezanne, Renoir, Monet, Pissarro, Fantin-Latour and Boudin--described as “one of the finest groups of Impresssionist and Post-Impressionist works ever to be offered for sale”--will be auctioned in New York on May 9 and could fetch more than $50 million, according to John Marion, Sotheby’s chairman of auctioneers. The paintings are from the collection of Jaime Ortiz-Patino, heir to a Bolivian tin fortune.
