Dwarf Star
Why do you carry on so about Robert Redford (“ ‘Milagro Beanfield’ Grew for Producer Redford,” by Charles Champlin, March 27)?
He is a minor talent and a failure as a “movie star.” The only hits he has ever had were when he was carried by Paul Newman, Dustin Hoffman or Barbra Streisand. All of his other movies have been financial and artistic failures, and there have been a lot of these.
His Sundance Institute hasn’t produced diddly squat over all these years.
The biggest mystery of Hollywood to me is how he ever got an Academy Award for “Ordinary People.” At best that was an ordinary movie and his directing was ordinary. This gaseous bean war movie will go the way of all his other movies, down the drain.
