FIRST OFF . . .
Actor Eric Roberts was arrested in New York early Thursday and charged with criminal trespass, attempted assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and possession of cocaine and marijuana, United Press International reported. Roberts, 31, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. in an apartment building after a female resident flagged down a police car, telling officers a man was banging on her friend’s apartment door. When told to stop, arresting officers said, the actor “took a swing at the cop” and missed. Police said Roberts was “intoxicated” and carrying marijuana. The woman inside the apartment, whose name was not released, told police she did not know the actor well and wanted to press charges. Roberts’ films include “Runaway Train” and “The Pope of Greenwich Village.”
