SAN DIEGO ARTS : Dance
The guests who turned out for the San Diego Civic Light Opera Assn.’s “Salute to COMBO Fashion Show” recently found a surprise. Stephen West (fresh from a critically acclaimed performance in the San Diego Opera’s production of “Rigoletto”) was on hand to entertain. West brought down the house with a lusty rendition of “If I Were a Rich Man” from “Fiddler on the Roof.”
Said co-artistic director Don Ward, “When we heard Steve was in town to do a concert, we snared him for the COMBO salute.”
Modern dance enthusiasts in the audience for the “Salute to COMBO” fashion show might not have recognized Three’s Company co-director Betzi Roe waltzing down the runway in that glamorous gown. But Roe represented the troupe as guest model at the San Diego Marriott Hotel. Representatives of nine other COMBO arts organizations were among the models sporting the latest fashions.
