China’s TV will air classic movies from Fox.
The agreement with the People’s Republic of China provides for the first nationally televised broadcasts of American films. Under the agreement with the Central China Television Network, 52 classic 20th Century Fox films will be telecast weekly over CCTV at 4 p.m. (a premium time in China) beginning Oct. 25. The premiere broadcast will feature a two-part airing of “Sound of Music.” Fox will retain six minutes of advertising time within each broadcast. With this accord, 20th Century Fox becomes the first U.S. motion picture distributor to receive a formal, executed contract providing for a regular time slot and specific air dates on CCTV for feature films in China.
