A Ball State University senior has won the third annual telecommunications scholarship contest in Muncie, Ind., sponsored by NBC late-night television host and Ball State alumnus David Letterman. Jon Weiss received a $5,000 scholarship check from Letterman’s representative, Indianapolis attorney Ron Elberger, after beating out eight other contestants with a “Miami Vice” video spoof entitled “One Vision.” Letterman, a 1970 Ball State graduate and former Indianapolis television weatherman, has donated more than $130,000 in scholarship and equipment funding to the school since 1985.
