Andy Warhol’s heart began to beat irregularly “a significant time” before doctors were alerted, said New York City’s medical examiner in calling on the district attorney to investigate the pop artist’s death at New York Hospital. Warhol, 58, died of a heart attack Feb. 22. But city Medical Examiner Elliot Gross said it was difficult to tell what caused the irregular heartbeat because of inadequate records of Warhol’s condition in the hours before his death.
