Geraldo Rivera has been accused by a Florida defense attorney of illegally taping the drug-related arrest of his client, John Quintero, during Rivera’s “American Vice: The Doping of a Nation” broadcast last December. Florida State Atty. Michael Satz said that attorney David Vinikoor contends that the state’s strict electronic eavesdropping law forbids taping a conversation without the consent of both parties. Rivera denied the allegation, saying the lawyer “is obviously desperate to find any defense because his client was caught red-handed dealing large amounts of cocaine.”
