BEANING BOBBY
Once again I became excited to read of the filming of a major movie being made about Mexican-Americans. Yet once again to my disappointment, the leading rolls in “Milagros” were not being portrayed by Mexican-Americans.
Although, a Redford fan, I think when we searched for authenticity for the movie he failed to find authenticity in real life. Co-producer Moctesuma Esparza on the other hand, with some movie moxie, sold out to Redford to ensure the success of the film.
If Mexican-American actors are not chosen for Anglo roles, should they not expect to portray Mexican-Americans? When do they get their turn?
