SECOND CHANCE
“The Times of Harvey Milk,” last year’s Oscar-winning documentary about the slain San Francisco supervisor, reached a limited audience in theatrical distribution, but Showtime has hired playwright William Hoffman to adapt it for dramatization. Hoffman’s “As Is,” a play about the AIDS crisis, is about to be restaged and taped for Showtime.
“We feel this is an important story that deserves a bigger audience,” said “Milk” co-producer Richard Schmiechen. “We also hope that Showtime will draw a new, more upscale, family-oriented audience.”
