Web Buzz: SafariBookings.com features tours in eight countries
Safari, anyone? Here’s your online marketplace to research and book your dream African safari.
Name: SafariBookings.com
What it does: Features 181 safari tours in parks and preserves in eight countries, from 89 tour operators. Consider it a CliffsNotes to African safari tours.
What’s hot: The parks and countries are reviewed by experts — travel writers who live and breathe Africa and have written for well-known guidebooks such as Lonely Planet, Rough Guide and more. Roll up your sleeves and click through photos and descriptions of parks and tours. Which tour is the best fit for you? A classic safari to see the “Big 5” in South Africa, or gorilla tracking in Uganda? I appreciated the filters for all comfort levels: budget, midrange, luxury and luxury plus.
What’s not: The homepage left me wanting more guidance; I didn’t know where to begin. Call me old-fashioned, but I’d like a primer for travelers who are new to safaris. I was overwhelmed by star ratings, country links and tour links. If this happens to you, begin your research by watching the video of the eight major countries found in the “Country Info” tab.
