Ecuador: On this Galapagos Islands adventure, bring the kids

The Galapagos Islands tour from Thomson Family Travel keeps the adventure quotient high -- orienteering, snorkeling, kayaking and camping on the beach -- and prices low for selected 10-day trips this summer.
The Galapagos Multi-Sport Adventure begins in Quito, Ecuador, with two days in the Andean highlands that include a visit to Itchimbia Hill, 9,500 feet above sea level overlooking the city, and a stop at the Condor Project in Hacienda Zuleta to see the huge birds firsthand. Children also have an opportunity to volunteer with a community service project.
From there, it’s on to Isabela, the largest of the islands, to swim amid mangroves and see the Galapagos penguin; and San Cristobal for snorkeling, camping and viewing nesting spots of blue-footed boobies.
The deal: The company discounts fares by $1,000 per person for three trips this summer; prices below include the discount.
Dates: Departure dates are June 23, July 7 and July 21.
Price: $4,790 per adult, double occupancy ($4,640 to $4,690 per child). It includes accommodations, land transportation, guide, meals, entrance and park fees and more. International airfare is extra.
