Los Angeles International Airport will feature a new lineup of 60 shops and restaurants in selected terminals this year, an upgrade that’s part of the airport’s LAneXt project, according to a statement released Monday.
The accent for the new terminal offerings is on L.A. chefs and businesses. Newcomers to Terminal 5 include the Mattel Experience, a stand-alone store that will feature Barbies, Matchbook and Hot Wheels, and Ford’s Filling Station restaurant. Trendy Kitson opened up shop last week in Terminal 7.
The shops and restaurants will be phased in by the end of the year, an LAX spokeswoman said. Here are some of the other businesses set to open:
- Campanile, Cole’s (French dip sandwiches), 8oz. Burger Bar and Vroman’s Bookstore in Terminal 4;
- Skewers by Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and Monsier Marcel Gourmet Market in Terminal 5;
- Wolfgang Puck Express, Seven Grand and BLD (both by chef Neal Fraser), the Counter, Yogurtland at Terminal 7;
- Engine Co. No. 28 at Terminal 8.
The centerpiece of the LAneXt plan involves building a new Tom Bradly International Terminal, which is underway. The existing Tom Bradley International Terminal, the new Bradley terminal, Terminal 2 and the Theme Building also will get a makeover, scheduled for spring 2013 to 2014, the statement says.
