John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Santa Ana next month will pick up a new airline, which will begin daily service between the Orange County airport and two Canadian cities.
WestJet, a Canadian carrier started in 1996, will fly to Vancouver at 2:15 p.m. daily starting May 2 and to Calgary at 12:30 p.m. daily starting June 13, airline spokesman Robert Palmer wrote in an email.
Most of the introductory fares, $99 plus tax and fees each way to either destination, are sold out. Airfares now run $129 to $210 each way, plus tax and fees, Palmer said. WestJet also provides service to Canada from Los Angeles, Palm Springs and San Diego.
In a new alliance, WestJet and American Airlines recently began offering code-share flights together.
