Mississippi humming as Annual Audubon Hummingbird Festival approaches
- Share via
The nature festival coincides with the southern migration of ruby-throated hummingbirds from Canada through Mississippi to their winter home in Mexico and Central America. Visitors to the Holly Springs event can watch as hundreds of the tiny birds are banded and released. There will also be guided nature walks and wagon rides; an array of experts talking about bats, chimney swifts, Mississippi snakes (with some slithering examples on hand) and more; a nature-themed marketplace; and hummingbird viewing at the Davis House, an antebellum house at the center.
When, where: Sept. 7 to 9 at Strawberry Plains Audubon Center, 285 Plains Road, Holly Springs.
Admission: $10, $5 for kids 11 and younger
