California: $18 Big Bear lift tickets come with a catch
Big Bear’s $18 lift ticket offer may have caught your eye, as it should. This week’s sale, which shaves $42 off the regular price, runs for 48 hours, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Is there a catch? Well, isn’t there always?
The $18 lift tickets, the lowest price offered at Snow Summit or Bear Mountain since 1983, is bundled with lodging, so you must stay overnight. At discount prices (lodging is 25% off as well), that’s probably not a deal breaker. But be forewarned.
There are about a dozen rooms at $69 per night midweek available with the package, and another dozen or so rooms at $79, says marketing director Dan McKernan
With the 25% discount, they would be $51.75 and $59.25 per night, respectively.
Options include a variety of venues: rental homes, resort lodges and rustic cabins.
The offer is good for overnight stays Sundays through Thursdays and lift tickets can be used Mondays through Fridays. There is a limit of two lift tickets per reservation.
A limited number of these packages are available. Holiday blackout periods will also apply.
The $18 lift ticket and discount lodging offer must be mentioned at the time of booking.
Reservations can be made online from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Friday, or by phone at (800) 424-4232 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
