USC football: Su’a Cravens makes good first impression

USC safety Su’a Cravens did not waste much time showing Trojans fans and opponents why he is starting as a freshman.

Cravens intercepted a pass in the first quarter against Hawaii on Thursday, setting up a field goal in USC’s 30-13 victory.

“I was just happy I got the pick,” Cravens said. “I was just hoping my mom didn’t have a heart attack when I caught it.”

Cravens, who had four tackles, might have made it look easy, but he said he was nervous before kickoff.

“Usually, I don’t get jittery before the game,” he said, “but I saw the fans, I saw the band, everybody playing, it got a little different.

“Tunnel vision came in a little bit, but after that I took it under control, took some breaths and made some plays.”
