Watch Rogelio Chavez of Cruz Azul make an amazing goal [Video]

Rogelio Chavez of Cruz Azul is a defender with only nine goals scored in his more than 200 games played in Mexico’s Primera League, but wait until you see his goal Friday night from midfield to cap a 3-1 victory over Queretaro.

Chavez, 29, was first called up in 2004 by Cruz Azul. He spent 2011 and 2012 playing with rivals C.F. Pachuca and Club Atlas, respectively, before returning to his home club. He’s primarily known for his free kicks and well-placed crossing passes.

On Friday night, with Cruz Azul holding a one-goal lead in the 89th minute, Chavez came forward across midfield and volleyed the ball toward the goal.

Queretaro’s keeper retreated to the corner of the left side of the goal but couldn’t stop the shot from going into the net.
