Rams receiver Stedman Bailey to join West Virginia football staff
Receiver Stedman Bailey, who was placed on the Rams’ non-football injury list in June, will join West Virginia’s staff as a student assistant coach, Mountaineers Coach Dana Holgorsen announced.
Bailey, 25, is attempting to recover from gunshot wounds to the head suffered last November near Miami. He attended the Rams’ off-season workout program but was not cleared for football activities.
Bailey played at West Virginia and was a third-round pick by the Rams in 2013. He has 59 receptions, two for touchdowns, in 38 games.
Bailey will enroll as a full-time student to complete his bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies. He said in a statement that his career was not over and that the move provides him more time to heal.
“We couldn’t be happier for Stedman and this opportunity he has to complete his degree and join West Virginia’s coaching staff,” Rams Coach Jeff Fisher said in a statement on West Virginia’s website. “We wish him and his family the best as they step into the next chapter of their lives.”
