LONDON -- Track and field is the largest sport at the Olympics in terms of participants, with 2,242 entrants accounting for more than 20% of the 10,881 athletes expected to take part in the London Games.
Swimming is the next most-popular sport, with 948 athletes. Trampoline has the fewest entries at 32.
There are 205 nations participating in the Games but more than half of those will be represented by no more than 10 athletes. The host country has the largest delegation with 556 entrants, 25 more than the U.S. But the Americans have brought more women -- 271 -- than men -- 260.
