Future of Rome’s bid for 2024 Summer Games remains unclear
It could be another week before Los Angeles finds out if Rome — one of its rivals for the 2024 Summer Olympics — will continue as a candidate.
Roma 2024 officials told insidethegames.com they will hold a news conference Tuesday to address the future of the bid.
Virginia Raggi , the Italian capital’s mayor, has campaigned against bringing the Games to her city, and council members recently voted in favor of withdrawing.
The bid committee has so far vowed to continue and has met with Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee, this week.
Los Angeles and Paris have been considered the front-runners for 2024, with Budapest also running.
The IOC will make its selection in September 2017.
