Football: Central Catholic repeats as state bowl champion

Modesto Central Catholic has won its second straight CIF state Division IV championship bowl game, beating Bakersfield Christian 36-23 at StubHub Center in Carson.
Montell Bland ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns and brother Reggie Bland added 88 yards and one score for the Raiders (15-1), who limited Bakersfield Christian to two yards rushing. Kenny Smart kicked two field goals for Central Catholic, which led 5-14 at halftime.
Eagles quarterback Brandon Jones threw for 380 yards and two TDs and ran for another score and Brayden Kuchta caught eight passes for 116 yards for Bakersfield Christian (12-3).
