Football: Bakersfield leads 28-17 at halftime
Bakersfield put on quite an offensive display in the first half and leads Loomis Del Oro, 28-17, at StubHub Center in Carson.
Darius Dallas intercepted a pass near the Drillers’ 20-yard line on the final play of the second quarter to give Bakersfield’s defense some confidence heading into the locker room after 24 minutes in which both teams’ offenses moved the ball at will.
Bakersfield quarterback Asauni Rufus is having success on the ground and through the air. He has 118 yards and two touchdowns rushing and 71 yards and one TD throwing. Rufus and his teammates are trying to deliver their school its first state football title since 1927.
Dylan Kainrath has 115 yards and two TDs and Mason Humes has kicked a 29-yard field goal for Del Oro, which will get the ball first in the second half.
