Special report: The culture of transfers in high school sports
There were more than 15,000 high school students who sought athletic eligibility after transferring this past school year, according to California Interscholastic Federation statistics.
In an attempt to provide a clearer understanding on what’s happening, The Times will publish a series of stories on Sunday examining the culture of high school sports transfers.
Among the stories will be looking at how one quarterback’s decision to switch schools started a chain reaction that’s still going on.
Another story will look at how transfers are influencing the sports of football and basketball at the highest level, forcing sections to seriously look at creating a transfer division.
Finally, I will offer a column looking at the impact of the transfer culture on high school sports.
